Nairobi, Monday 26th March 2018… Partnering to accelerate Land reforms … FAO Country Representative, Dr. Gabriel Rugalema and the Head of EU Development Cooperation Division, Herbert Perr Monday joined Lands CS, Farida Karoney during the handing over ceremony to the Contractor for the proposed new Customer Care Center at Ardhi House.
The lands CS commended the two joint development partners for their continued support to Kenya’s land reform agenda.
She said the new customer care center will help to improve the quality of service offered to customers which has in the past been quite poor.
“Customer handling has not been successful over the past years, my ministry is committed to quality delivery to its customers and that’s one of my main agenda.” Said the Ms. Karoney.
She said that her ministry was keen to launch the National Land Use Policy soon.
In their remarks, Both Dr. Rugalema and Mr. Hebert Perr praised the ongoing digitization program at the Ministry saying this would help to accelerate implementation of reforms in the land sector.
They praised the highly anticipated Land use Policy saying it would go a long way in boosting sustainable land management.
The Customer Care center is part of the joint EU and FAO Lands Ministry funded five-year land Governance Program (2016-2021).
The EU program which is being funded by EU and managed by FAO and has a budget of 10m euros which is equivalent to 1.2b Kenya shillings.
NLC is also a beneficiary of the program.
Also in attendance was Lands CAS, Hon. Gideon Mung’aro and PS, Dr. Nicholas Muraguri.
